I just want to say.. life is really fucking weird.. I had good intentions of posting about everything that's happened since my last post, but that would be absolutely impossible. I will briefly touch on the main points instead of carrying out my initial plan. Well, lets see.. Ska Weekend was badass, we ended up playing the main stage. We recorded a kick ass album which should be out in about a month. I bought a few more guitars, bringing me up around a total of 9 (i think thats the correct number, i've got a few lent out and its hard to keep track). I've been having a mid-life crisis at a quarter of the way through my life. I've been single for about a month, and it's the first time I've been single for more than a day or two in about six years. A lot of change has been going on, both in my head and in the world around me, mostly for the better. I will be going to school as a classical guitar major in the spring, which is pretty exciting. I am starting classical lessons during this semester just to make sure i'll be ready, and i have been playing a lot more lately. Um, I guess that's it.

well.. in regards to skaweekend.. not only have we been moved to the main day.. but we are playing at (i believe) 6:30 on the KF records stage.. and the show runs from 12-8.. which means there is only one band playing after us on our stage.. wich means we are awesome! the only bad news is we are playing against the planet smashers on the main stage.. but.. whatever.. its still wicked awesome.. oh.. and we are opening for the toasters tonight in ithaca.. life is good...

razsum has recently been added to Ska Weekend 2005 on april 29th and 30th in knoxville, TN. bands such as VOODOO GLOW SKULLS, MUSTARD PLUG, PLANET SMASHERS, PERFECT ORANGE, THE KNOW HOW, GO JIMMY GO, SUBURBAN LEGENDS, THE NINJAS, THE MALCONTENTS, THE TAJ MOTEL TRIO, LAS CABRIOLAS, THE DEBONAIRES, SGR, SOMETHING TO DO, RUDY, 33 WEST, THE RIGHTAWAYS, THE BLUE BARRACUDAS, HOWARD'S ALIAS, AKA RUDIE, THIRD GRADE SCUFFLE, HIGH SCHOOL FOOTBALL HEROES, I VOTED FOR KODOS, TOO SHORT NOTICE, and ARROGANT SONS OF BITCHES are all on the bill. we may get a slot on saturday, but as it stands, we play friday.. which, according to the guy who put this show on, means we only play in front of 3,000 people.. YIKES! plus we get to check out all these other big named bands in the ska world plus chill with them on saturday at the backstage band bbq.. ROCK! this will likely be the most important show ever since there will be reps from all the labels that have bands playing as well as instrument endorsement companies. not to mention the fact that we are working on playing local stages on Warped Tour and the Ska Is Dead tour when they come through NY. Also, we have 2 mini-tours planned for summer '05 (one with Slightly Askew and one with The-Glow). And, we are just a few songs short of being ready to record our first full-length album, which we also plan to accomplish this summer.. life.. is good..

so yesterday, we had a workshop at ESM highschool for kids who are into music.. the title of the workshop (not created by us) was "The Business of Being in a Fun Band".. so we addressed the kids as a group and talked about what its like to be in a band.. and then we all broke up into groups of kids who were interested in different instruments and spoke individually about what its like to play in a band and what things you need to work on and such.. we had a pretty god turnout.. there were at least 50 kids there if not more.. at the end we rocked out our short set list and it was definitely strange/fun to play to a bunch of kids who are up and coming musicians.. cause you know they are listening to the individual parts and little details that most kids at shows are not.. a reporter from the post standard was there, which is definitely awesome.. there are many exciting things in the works right now.. and im just waiting for everything to pan out..

so its been a wicked long time since i've updated.. but i figured this is the best time to do so.. RazSum had a show at ClubTundra.. we had The Glow with us last night and we are going to play a show with them in Rochester tomorrow night.. anyway.. last night.. the show was just amazing.. and im usually never happy after a show.. but this was beyond words.. my solos were on fire last night and a bunch of people come up to me after the show and said so.. and KK's drum solo was absolutely sick! but that came as no surprise.. all in all, the show was incredibly tight and everything just fit.. and it felt really good.. to be on a real stage again.. even though there werent that many people at the show.. maybe 30.. it was just a great night.. i remember what its like to do this again.. and i want it to be my job.. i wanna blow the world away with our new style and sound.. i wanna play shows every single night of my life and ride around in a tour bus.. and the way i see my future is this, fulltime work now.. fulltime rock in the very near future.. something is going to happen.. i can just tell.. we at the threshold of something good.. and i am wicked excited for it...

so yesterday i went to binghamton to demo a couple hitachi cameras.. but the place i went to was wicked cool.. they build flight simulators for black hawk helicopters.. and i guess the guy who the movie 'black hawk down' was based on works closely with them to ensure all the simulations are realistic, since its used to train actual black hawk pilots.. my job was to go and show these engineers some cameras which will perform well in low light conditions.. i got to play with real military issue night vision goggles.. they were sick.. you can take the N.V.G. into a completely dark room and see clear as day.. after my demo was over, they took me and the volpi lighting guy, toni ruffini, into their warehouse area (wicked Metal Gear Solid style!).. this is where they put everything together.. i saw the two black hawk simulators they are working on now and from up on the platform where we were checking out the 19th simulator i saw a Striker vehicle.. they proceeded to talk about their striker project.. its a mechanics simulator, which takes the striker and simulates mechanical problems and has sensors to know which screw or bolt or part the mechanic is tweaking and by how much.. its an anti-tank personnel carrier equipped with a gun turret in the back which is controlled from inside the vehicle and live video is fed to a screen inside.. crazy stuff.. after we finished the tour, i had lunch with tony ruffini.. and we talked about the band, electrical engineering, and brewing beer.. it was quite the lunch.. i guess he worked with GPS and satellite systems toward the end of the cold war.. and the conversation about brewing was badass.. word..

so everybody came home last weekend.. and we finally took our presskit photos.. there were a couple of me that i really liked.. which doesnt often happen.. i've been slowly updating the site.. it's coming along alright.. but i still dont really like it.. but it gets better with every update.. i've gotta send my college application in soon.. plans have changed again.. and i am going to apply for next fall without a semester at OCC, just to see if i can get in.. i've just gotta make sure that i actually do it, because i'll talk about it, and then move on to other things.. im the king of procrastination and most likely will always be such.. oh well.. time to get back to work..

it's december 1st and its raining in syracuse.. this is truly amazing, as we should be covered in snow by now.. we've only had one real snow thusfar and it didnt stick.. wicked badass.. in other news.. i'm starting to record some jazz standards.. guitar only.. its pretty badass.. i'll post the link once im done setting up the web-end of it.. i've only got two done thusfar, anthropology and autumn leaves.. i wanna through a little makeshift album of my solo works together.. i think it would be fun.. and recording forces me to practice.. so its a win-win situation.. speaking of practice, mike and i have practice tomorrow with our new drummer, KK. full band practice over the weekend.. its gonna be sick.. we have shows again, coming up in january.. we are lining up shows with The Glow in the Rochester area and also bringing them to the 'cuse to play at Club Tundra (January 6th, i believe).. also, over the summer we have dates at The Haunt in Ithaca and down as far as Christmas Pines, in PA. I am really seeing some good things happening in the band.. not everything is perfect, but things are definitely looking up.. i no longer have that feeling that i dont want to be in the band anymore.. and i like it.. i just hope that if we are going to get serious and take it to the next level, it happens soon.. cause once i start school (if i can even get in, heh) i'll have to concentrate on that.. cause it'd be a huge waste of money and time if i didnt.. so if we are going to decide to take off on the road and shit.. i'd like to know kinda soon.. but whatever happens.. we'll all take it in stride.. im almost at the end of FFVII now.. i am going through and trying to get everything.. i've missed a few things thusfar.. but nothing too crazy.. maybe one summon materia.. and i think the quake materia.. my goal is to beat FF7, FF8, and FF9 before the end of christmas break.. well.. i dont actually have a break.. but.. just the same.. that is my goal.. except FF8 takes me forever.. i played over 99 hours my first time through the game.. just because i love to waste time and level and shit.. and i've only ever played maybe 5 hours into FF9, so that'll most likely take me a some time to complete.. so i dont think i'll be able to do it.. especially if i break down and buy more games before i finish my goal.. actually.. fuck it.. hahah.. i'll finish as much as i can before i buy a new game.. work has been shitty lately.. the constant fixing of scanner systems for international paper.. and the configuration of this random camera with that random framegrabber is getting a bit old.. and my god, the annoying phone calls are the shittiest part of the day.. but it pays the bills.. speaking of which.. christmas is coming soon.. and i hate spending money on other people.. not because im a heartless bastard.. but rather, because i'd rather spend money on myself.. and have everybody else spend money on themselves.. and then everybody gets what they want.. and nobody is pissed.. and nobody is stuck buying a ton of shit for people they hardly know or care about.. i mean.. obviously.. little kids should get crap from their parents.. because they are little and have no job or money.. but once you have a job.. and are 'all grown up'.. fuck it.. that will never happen though.. because it would fucking hurt big business.. thats why it will never happen.. because the media perpetually shoves down our throats, the image that we need to buy shit for everybody.. there would be no reason to rush out to stores atr 6a.m. on black friday to try to buy your whiney little bastards all the toys they dont deserve.. hahaha.. im an evil, cynical bastard, yes.. but jesus christ.. oh the irony.. not saying that i love going to church or anything.. but isnt that what christmas is about?.. not some fat old bastard in a red suit who flys around to give all the bad little kids presents? ah.. the joys of a commercialized society.. and kids dont really understand what money is.. yes.. they know that without money you cant get what you want.. but they dont know what its like to go to a shitty job everyday to make that money.. i look at my older sister and her two kids.. i was over there last night.. and my 9-year-old nephew asked me if i'd buy him a portable DVD player for christmas.. and i said no.. because i dont even have a portable DVD player for myself.. and yeah.. i begged for cool shit when i was a kid too.. but i just got an atari when everybody else had super nintendo.. and there is a TV in every room of my sister's house.. and she does work hard to support those fucking kids.. but its such a shame to see one of them not realize and the other not care.. its just crazy to think about.. but anyway.. fuck christmas.. the only fucking thing i want for christmas is the ability to sleep for 24 hours straight.. i mean.. i do like being with my friends and family.. but it just seems like so much bullshit.. holidays in general.. the whole idea is lost.. and its sad.. its pathetic.. moving on.. i cant wait until christmas break starts.. having everybody home makes it worthwhile for me to get up and go to work.. so i can get out and be with all the people that i care about.. also, we will be playing our first shows after the 'razbreak'.. its been so long since i've played on a stage.. i almost forget the feeling.. i am honestly a little nervous to come back after so long.. but im sure all will go well.. its just the most amazing feeling being up on stage.. you rock out, people dance.. you solo, people stare in awe.. its just fucking awesome.. and the day is soon coming, when the mighty raz will take the stage once more.. (yes, im lame and im listening to mp3's of me.. haha)

well, its been about 12 days since i last updated.. so i figured now would be as good a time as any.. i guess alot has happened since my last post.. but i dont really wanna get into too many gory details.. but we lost 2 memebers (keys and drums) of the band.. and we have a new drummer.. and some of us have possibly damaged friendships.. but i guess all we can do is just keep going and hope that these deicisions that the used-to-be 8 of us have made are for the best.. there was just so much bullshit and drama from both sides of this rift.. and i truly hope that we are all past that now.. because its just not worth it.. its not fucking highschool anymore.. and although all of us involved did have our own individual points to make, i think we all could have gone about things differently.. its like breaking up with a girlfriend (and i've had 4 relationships since i've been in this band) and it feels kinda like cheating to play with somebody new.. but KK is a great drummer and im sure things will continue on as they always have and our style will continue to change for the better and we will all become better musicians because of all this.. i am already jealous of KK though.. heh.. if you google 'kinyatta king' you actually about 150 get results.. granted.. if you google my name 'chris markle', you get 59,000 results.. but chris is a way more common name.. and the VP of engineering at sendmail has my name.. but anyway.. i'm gonna go back to work now.. and get ready for mad thanksgiving foods and practice with the band..

lets see.. what's gone on since i've last updated... i spent last weekend in fredonia with meagan (and mike and danielle).. and stopped in to see vinfein, where we rapped to eminem songs like we did back in the day.. monday i bought an iPod (i got the 20G.. but now i'm kinda wishing i got the 40G since i've already filled 1/4 of its capacity with just my mp3s from work and have not yet touched my home machine). I finished up the SRSVisionAcquisition module that i was writing for the Sperry Rail app. I also knocked off the Dirt Counter/Image Deletions system for International Paper.. Now i'm finishing up the app for General Electric and then i can move on to revamping the company website.. fun fun.. on tuesday, i went down to Olympus Industrial in orangeburg to demo a firewire camera.. it was a bit of a disaster, as the software that is used to run the camera is in what i would call a 'pre-alpha' state.. it really shouldnt be allowed to be seen at a demo for prospective customers.. but anyway.. i stayed in albany from monday night until wednesday night.. i had a good time hanging out at derek and spine's (sean) dorm.. spine skipped almost all of his classes and most of my time there was spent watching him play Final Fantasy VII and smoking mad cigarettes.. it made me feel like.. me.. only 2-3 years ago.. playing video games all day and smoking cigarettes and not doing anything else.. but anyway, i prolly watched about 16 hours of FFVII in the short time i was in albany.. i saw rory.. met mike goon (who was so excited to meet me that i really felt like a rockstar for a second) and this brittish kid named ben.. who they call 'Big Ben'.. and he walkes into the room and says "i dont mean to be a cheeky-asshole but can i skank a fag from one of you?" so of course i give him a cigarette and then laughter explodes once he leaves the room.. wednesday night, i am trying to convince derek to come home to syracuse with me early and skip 2 days of classes.. i finally succeed.. we make our way home.. and thus puts us basically up to present with interesting happenings.. oh.. also.. i 'bought' a leather jacket this week in albany.. here is the story.. before i left for my demo on tuesday, spine let me borrow his jacket.. and he's like "dude.. you like that jacket.. i'll sell it to you for $150.. i paid $300 for it.." and im like "no way dude.. im not paying that much for it.. but i'll tell you what i will do..." as i whip out a fresh, un-opened pack of cigarettes.. "i will leave these here while im on my business trip.. if by the time i return the pack has been opened and/or smoked, the jacket is mine." and as im walking out the door to drop derek off at the main campus and make my way to my demo, i hear spine in his room while the door is shutting i hear spine screaming "NOOOOOOOOOOOOO!!! MARKLE!!!! YOU CANT DO THIS TO ME!!!! NOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOO!!!" as the story goes.. 2 minutes after we had left, he says aloud "i dont even wear that fucking jacket" and opened the pack.. he smoked one of the new cigarettes before the cigarette that i had given him out of my pack before the jacket even came into play.. and then, later in the day, someone asked to bum a cigarette from him.. and he was like "fuck no.. each one of these cigarettes just cost me $15 a piece!"

so i am more than just a little bit upset about the election.. and i think i am joined by about 48% of the United States population (that 48% making up 100% of the non-redneck or non-mentally handicapped portion of this country).. and now everybody who has a brain realizes how fucked we are.. republican majority in the house, the senate, the supreme court, and our 'president'.. you know.. now that we are going to make it illegal for a woman to have an abortion and ban gay marriage.. why not just re-instate slavery you retarded, racist, republican bigots! jesus fucking christ.. and how did such a high percentage say that 'good morals' are the most important issue when choosing a president!?!!?! good fucking morals? if that were even true, who in their right mind would "re-elect" a person who got us into this mess with iraq on a basis of 'good morals'.. fuck that! i use the term "re-elect" very loosely.. to quote rev. al sharpton from his appearance on the daily show on this most terrible, horrible election day "we were robbed ... if bush wins this time, it'll be the first time he gets elected president".. which, in my opinion, is exactly what happend 4 years ago.. not that it even matters at this point.. how much worse do things have to get before someone will try to make it better? how many more borderline-retarded ass clowns can we put in office before the people realize that something has to change?
